Hello fellow crochet lovers! I’m so excited to bring you Valentine’s day free crochet pattern today! This is my first amigurumi pattern and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Heart Full of Love FREE Valentine Crochet Amigurumi Pattern

Doesn’t he look adorable with his little sign? You could attach any paper Valentine to his arms to make him the cutest love messenger in the world! This would make a sweet little gift for any loved one or an adorable teacher gift. We added a lollipop and it was instantly a personalized valentine!

If you have never made an amigurumi before (small stuffed yarn creatures or animals), don’t be intimidated! This is a GREAT beginner pattern and will get you “hooked” on the art of amigurumi! (hahaha, see what I did there? SOOO punny!) And seriously, who could find this face intimidating?

Heart Full of Love – A Valentine’s Day Free Crochet Pattern

Skill level: beginner
Size: one size – depends on gauge and hook size

Abbreviations:
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
MR – magic ring
sc – single crochet

Materials required:
1 skein of I Love This Yarn – Red
Safety eyes, 6mm
Black embroidery thread
Polyester stuffing
Yarn needle
Stitch markers
Scissors
Crochet hooks, H and F (5mm and 4.5mm) – I used my Clover Amour

Heart body – use H (5.0mm)
Magic ring
Row 1: 10 sc into MR (10)
Continue around without joining. Use a stitch marker to track your rows.
Row 2: *2 sc into sc, sc into next sc*, repeat between * four times (15)
Row 3: sc into each sc around (15)
Row 4: sc into each sc around (15)
For first side of heart, fasten off here This is Piece 1.
For second side of heart (Piece 2), repeat rows 1 through 4 but do not fasten off. Continue on to Row 5.
Row 5: sl st into Piece 1 to join both pieces together, sc in the next stitch of Piece 1 and each stitch around. When you reach the join on the other side, 2 sc into the joined Stitch (this is one sc into Piece 1, then one sc into Piece 2 where the pieces join). Continue the row around Piece 2. (32)

This is how Piece 1 and Piece 2 should look when slip stitched together.

Row 6: sc into each sc around (32)
Row 7: sc into next 7 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 14 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 7 sc (30)
Row 8: sc into next 6 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 14 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 6 sc (28)
Row 9: sc into next 5 sc, invisible decrease twice , sc into next 11 sc, invisible decrease twice, sc into next 4 sc (24)
Row 10: sc into next 5 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 11 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 4 sc (22)
Attach safety eyes in desired position. I placed mine between row 6 and 7.
Stuff with polyester stuffing.
Row 11: sc into next 5 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 10 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 3 sc (20)
Row 12: sc into next 3 sc, invisible decrease twice, sc into next 7 sc, invisible decrease twice, sc into next 2 sc (16)
Row 13: sc into next 4 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 6 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 2 sc (14)
Row 14: sc into next 3 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 6 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next sc (12)
Row 15: sc into next 3 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next 4 sc, invisible decrease, sc into next sc (10)
Row 16: invisible decrease around (5)
Stuff remaining portion.
Stitch opening closed and fasten off securely.

Arms: (make 2) using F (4.0mm) hook
Magic ring
Row 1: 6 sc into MR (6)
Row 2: sc into each sc around (6)
Row 3: sc, 2 sc into next stitch, sc in next 4 sc (7)
Row 4: sc, invisible decrease, sc in next 4 sc (6)
Row 5: sc around. (6)
Fasten off.
Stitch arms to front portion of heart at desired angle.
Stitch mouth with embroidery thread.

I had a couple extra stuffed hearts in there – those were my design process rejects. See how one of them has a lopsided set of humps? haha! But let’s face it – even a reject of a puffy stuffed heart is still adorably cute!
